We are excited to offer this opportunity to join a dynamic growing boutique firm in the role of UX Designer.

Role Summary

Our ideal candidate will be passionate about digital design, and contributing to an exciting innovative culture thrive on exploring the ”what’s possible” for our clients  A proven design more than capable of capturing the essence of the user experience and translating it into the essential “didn’t know I needed this….how did I live without it” .

You will be motivated by the dynamic nature of start-ups which thrive on possibility, initiative and accomplishment.

Key Responsilbities:

  • Leverage a range of primary and secondary research methodologies (including user testing, intercept tests, focus groups and secondary review) in order to inform your designs

  • Produce compelling visual designs to illustrate concepts iteratively and be able to provide detailed specifications for use by UI and front-end developers

  • Act as design lead through conception, validation and rapid prototyping of new solutions working collaboration key stakeholders

  • Leading and participating in testing sessions

  • Greatly influence the design aesthetic of experiences that touch users every day

  • Work with the innovation project team and a range of stakeholders to prioritize issues, tasks and projects

  • Understand our users, leveraging rigorous design research and usability principles as well as your intuitive design sense

  • Be able to synthesize research outcomes into viable product experiences

  • Bring a high level of technical acuity with a thorough understanding of front end technologies; you will need to understand limitations and constraints, as well as when to push boundaries

  • Be open, persuasive, engaging and be champion for the end user

  • Think through the range of customer segments in the various industries, specifically retail and financial industry and be able to design intelligent systems that meet the needs of various personas

  • Build a strong and effective working relationship with clients to understand business and user needs and drivers to ensure highest level of commitment to obtain customer engagement

  • Be the Subject Matter Expert with the organization with respect to emerging technology and best in practice customer/user journey mapping

  • Support innovative product and services development assignments in a timely and efficient manner

  • Review/Prepare reports related to development and validating new products or service offerings

  • You have:

    • Minimum 3 years’ experience in digital design and user experience environments, preferably in the Fin Tech space, or Intelligent Retail space

    • Proven experience in similar or related role

    • Thorough knowledge of current and emerging digital user experience trends

    • Experience and knowledge of HTML & CSS, and basic web development frameworks

    • Experience using rapid prototyping platforms (InVision, Adobe XD, chatfuel, etc.)

    • A demonstrable portfolio of work (professional and personal) which showcases the applications you’ve worked on and includes examples of your storytelling skills, from low-fidelity sketches through to detailed designs

    • Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite.

    • Possess capacity for forming and advancing relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

    • Demonstrated progressive expertise in working collaboratively across business functions

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    • Excellent interpersonal skills

    • The ability to approach your work through a strategic lens

    • Proven leadership abilities and self-starter in a progressive company

Qualifications:

  • University degree with a GPA you’re excited to tell us about

  • 3 years’ experience in UX design roles

  • Experience and passion working in the FinTech space or with start-ups is required

  • Eligible to work in Canada

  • Some evening and weekend work required, as well as event attendance and participation
